Urban land planning and management

- Regional development focuses on managing and monitoring evolving landscapes. Satellite imagery is a quick, cost-effective way of obtaining accurate, uniform and up-to-date information on the way land is being used.

You need
- To gain a “big-picture” synoptic view of a region and keep track of changing land use patterns and project trends in order to:
  • create and update land use/land cover databases at urban, peri-urban, national and regional scales
  • draw up and keep track of master development plans
  • conduct environmental impact studies
  • monitor urban growth
  • plan and optimize survey campaigns in urban, peri-urban and rural areas
  • obtain a uniform database for geographic information systems
  • ensure that all planning personnel share the same information.
