Mapping Barcelona
Barcelona stretches over 20 km: as KOMPSAT-2 has a ground footprint of 15 km, 2 satellite images are required to cover the entire city.
Source data
The two input images are Bundle products comprising a 1-metre panchromatic (B&W) band and four 4-metre multispectral bands (R, G, B and NIR). The first image was acquired on 26 October 2008 and the second on 13 January 2009.
Pan-sharpening
To obtain 1-metre pan-sharpened colour images, the multispectral bands are merged with the panchromatic band.

Orthorectification
Orthorectification consists in projecting the image onto a map projection, georeferencing it with ground control points and rectifying it geometrically using a DEM to eliminate distortion due to relief effects.
Mosaicking
Mosaicking consists in stitching together the orthoimages along a join line to smooth over differences due to the acquisition date, brightness or viewing angle.
