Pre-and post-disaster SPOT 5 imagery of flooding in Southeast France

-

Torrential rains flooded the east of the department of Var in Southeast France on 16 June. A wave surged through a number of towns like Draguignan or Saint-Tropez, causing landslides and leaving extensive damage in its wake.

Spot Image presents a comparison of two SPOT 5 images of the disaster area: an archive image acquired 22 August 2009 and another acquired 18 June 2010, two days after the flash flood event. Both images were generated for the European SAFER emergency satellite map service.
