ANDORRE : Instant
automatic orthorectification

You need
- You need to receive frequently and quickly up-to-date and precise cartographic data covering large areas.

You are :
  • Ministries of Agriculture, Defence and the Environment,
  • Mapping agencies and land planning departments,
  • Research organizations...
User of large volumes of geographic information, you have to ensure the monitoring of your area of interest. You need high-accuracy products quickly without the need for specialist mapping knowledge.
  • SPOT receiving station operators
You wish to enlarge your product range with automatic production of orthoimages (level 3 - SPOTView) and DEMs.

The multi sensor orthorectification tool
ANDORRE (for Atelier Numérique DORthoREctification in French), is an integrated system for automatic and massive production of:

  • Ortho-images,
  • Multi Spectral and Pan-sharpened images (level 1A and 2A, at 2.5 m and 5 m resolution )
  • Digital Elevation Model (DEM) extraction

ANDORRE  features multisensor orthorectification capacity and supports all formats of imagery available on the market.

ANDORRE products

Andorre is Spot Image’s digital production shop designed to support automatic and multi-sensor orthorectification. Accuracy of Reference3D products allows to implement a fully automated orthorectification tool:

  • The Reference3D orthoimage acts as a map (GCPs)
  • The incoming image is orthorectified using the DEM layer of Reference3D.

ANDORRE technical data

Hardware architecture
The ANDORRE hardware architecture supports:

  • supervision of the production shop,
  • Reference3D tile archiving and management (of up to 2,000 tiles),
  • orthorectification and merge processing,
  • quality control of produced images,
  • production on media or over a network.
-

Performances
Performance will depend on the system hardware configuration and on product type and coverage.
In standard configuration Andorre is sized to process per day :

  • 200 Ortho images (XS or Natural colors)
  • 100 level 1A in natural colors

- Products may be sent through FTP
- Handle direct or web based request

- Training
Spot Image offers a training plan tailored to ANDORRE operators’ needs. Training includes theoretical and practical work, focusing on image processing, geometry, Reference3D, and management and maintenance of the automatic orthorectification shop.

3 years’ technical assistance and support
  • on-line support,
  • software upgrades once or twice a year,
  • sharing and exploitation of experience acquired by a network of operators,
  • development of new solutions.

Key benefits
-
Remarkable location accuracy with no need for GCPs
Thanks to Reference3D, ANDORRE products offer exceptional accuracy:
  • planimetric accuracy better than 15 metres (CE90),
  • elevation accuracy better than 10 metres (LE90).
-
Perfectly uniform data
Because data are tied to a single reference system (Reference3D), ANDORRE offers temporally and spatially uniform products covering large areas.

A fully automatic and autonomous process
ANDORRE is an automatic production shop designed chiefly to reduce orthoimagery costs and lead times. What’s more, it needs no extra personnel or mapping specialists to operate in routine configuration.
Users can also work in manual mode for greater control over the production process or to check product quality. In this case, some basic knowledge of cartography may be needed to interpret image quality data.

Orthoimage in less than 2 hours
Results obtained so far indicate that ANDORRE takes less than 2 hours to produce a 2.5-m colour, full-scene orthoimage (60 km x 60 km = 3,600 km²).

The same production line as Spot Image
  • Guaranteed quality,
  • The advantage of sharing experience and proposed improvements among an established user community.
