- The expedition Clipperton led by Doctor Jean-Louis Etienne settles for four months on the island of Clipperton, a desert atoll situated in the Pacific. The main objective of this mission is to carry out an inventory of this deserted French island and research teams will take turns to lead scientific activities in the fields of oceanography, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, ecology, the study of the atmosphere...

The Ministry of Education in France is a partner of this mission; educational activities on the subject of sustainable development are proposed throughout this expedition to the pupils and the teachers, from primary school through to secondary school.
